XWAY, XWAY & THE GIANT RED CEDAR

Xway, Xway and the Giant Red Cedar is an engaging adventure story about two twin boys who learn the importance of taking care of the environment and being true to their word.

My book is set in Stanley Park which was once the site of an actual indigenous village called Xwayxway (pronounced Whoi whoi) that inspired my story.

Exploring the authentic illustrations in Xway, Xway and the Giant Red Cedar, allows for dialogue between adult and child. And, accompanying questions included in the story help assess the child's language ability including vocabulary, predicting and problem solving skills, projecting into feelings and thinking of others, memory, imagination, comprehension and logical reasoning skills.

THE CASE OF THE CEREAL ARTIST

My second kids book is set on the Canadian Prairies and is a detective fiction mystery. Mysteries appeal to young and old, so I thought what better place to foster a detective then the prairies where the largest number of crop circles are found in Canada. Children will learn to look for details as they try to investigate with R.C. Mountie, an indigenous detective in position of authority, and meet nocturnal animals that live on the prairies. The Case of the Cereal Artist is about a strange pattern that had mysteriously appeared overnight in Farmer Regina's wheat field. These crop circles were damaging and costly, so Farmer Regina called upon detective R.C. Mountie to help find out who had flattened the wheat. The Sly Fox blamed a nocturnal animal, the squirrels Prairie Dog and the timid White-tailed Deer also provided more circumstantial evidence against others. But R.C. Mountie did not jump to conclusions, he persevered with his investigate skills until he was able to establish a motive and expose the Cereal Artist.
