BC has the biggest variety of Salmon found in the world: Chinook, Coho, Chum, Sockeye and Pink.
There are only two in Asia; Masu and Amago, and one in the Atlantic.
Fishing is about patience and persistence to accomplish a goal. When you go fishing, you do not immediately see results. But when you catch something, it is worth the effort. Go fishing at Campbell River, BC; one of the best fishing places in the world. Alternatively, use my fishing activity sheet with the children.
Download the free activity sheets on cardstock paper such as the memory-concentration card game (at www.kidsquest.ca) to learn names of different salmon.
Add the orca whale (which is not a fish) and play old maid. Add more fish from around the world such as tuna, halibut, sole, etc. to make the game more exciting.
Visit the Noons Creek Hatchery with your children and learn about the fish management and recovery projects. Donate time and/or money to restore ecological health to the inlet.
